It’s been a year….

The nominating committee has just celebrated its first birthday! We are counting on it to be our last.   In the past twelve months we have had over 40 meetings and accumulated over 1,200 volunteer hours.  Your committee has missed birthdays, rearranged family events, hired baby sitters, called in favors, slept less, missed meals, and generally sacrificed their time in order to find our next rector.  We will all be glad to have our weeknights back and  our email inboxes empty.  We are also looking forward to worshiping with our new rector.  Even with the sacrifices, we are fortunate to be a part of this journey.  This is an exciting time for the committee and we are looking forward to sharing that excitement with the parish.  Your prayers  for us and your encouragement have carried us and we are thankful to be part of this wonderful parish.

This summer we received nominations for our next rector and we have spent the last few months reviewing the information we from the nominees and selecting candidates for interviews.  Interviews are being scheduled as we move into this next phase of discernment.   This is a very exciting time for the committee as we get to know these wonderful candidates.   Please continue to  keep our candidates in your prayers as they work to discern God’s call and anticipate a possible move.  In the best of circumstances this can be a very stressful time for a minister as so much of this process is conducted in private.  We must be gentle and patient during this time of discernment as each of us works to understand God’s will.
