— The church office will be closed Wednesday through Friday, Nov. 22-24. The Preschool is closed all week (Nov. 20-24).


This Sunday, Nov. 26 — Advent Wreath Making for everyone — All ages! Join us in the Parish Hall 10-11 am to make an Advent wreath for your home this season. Wreath bases and materials are provided, or if you have a base already please be sure to bring it. Parishioner Mel Paris will offer his hand-made ceramic wreath bases for purchase at the event for those interested. For questions please contact Jenna Parker, jenna AT

Gobble Jog for MUST this Thursday — The annual Run/Walk on the morning of Thanksgiving Day held at the Marietta Square benefits MUST Ministries. *** Weekly Ministry Focus: Adult Education Committee — St. Catherine’s offers many opportunities for adult Christian formation, including Sunday classes, Bible study groups, Wednesday Night Live, baptism and reception classes, EFM and much more. *** Advent Reflections and resources — Advent study materials for all ages will be in the foyer to take home. In particular will be St. Catherine’s own 2017 reflections on Advent and Christmas, “Pause, Ponder, Prepare,” available beginning Dec. 3 in printed booklet, on our website, and daily by email and our Facebook page.

Christian Formation class added for Advent begins Dec 3: “Practicing Wonder” — 10-11 am. On Sundays in Advent join Mother Sarah and Elizabeth Lopez for “Practicing Wonder with All Your Heart, Soul, Strength and Mind.” We will use a small booklet to offer space to wonder, develop Advent practices and create space for listening for God. Children’s Cookies & Stories Evening Sunday, Dec. 3 — 6:15-7:00 pm in the Parlor. All children are invited to come in your cozy pajamas as we share seasonal sweets and listen to Christmas stories from Mother Sarah and our Director of Children and Family Ministries, Jenna Parker.


Holiday Artisan Market Sunday, Dec. 3 — Shop local this holiday season at St. Cat’s annual Artisan Market, 8 am – 1 pm in our Parish Hall. Vendors still wanted, a $25 booth fee to benefit the Youth Program will be collected the day of the event. To reserve space contact Rebeccah Devault, rebeccah.devault AT


*** Advent Quiet Evening Wed., December 6 — All adults and youth 12 & older are invited to join with Daughters of the King from 7 to 9 pm for the annual Advent Quiet Evening. Let’s take time out during the busy holiday season to focus on our journey of expectation to meet the Christ Child — praying, reflecting and being together. We will have Advent readings and time around our outdoor fire pit.


*** ECMS Food Pantry items collection — We are collecting now through Dec.17 for needy students of East Cobb Middle School over winter break. Grocery bags with item lists are available in the church foyer and preschool office. Kids may decorate bags if desired but are not obligated to take a bag. Items needed: peanut butter, jelly, canned tuna or chicken, canned pastas, dry pasta & sauce, individually wrapped snacks, chips, goldfish, pretzels, personal hygiene products, toilet paper, cereal/oatmeal, microwave mac & cheese, canned fruits and vegetables — bring to the bins at the Outreach table. Also needed are gift cards to Walmart, Kroger, and Publix, please drop these off at main or preschool office, or to a church usher.


*** Christmas Outreach for Emmaus House

-> Secret Santa Shop items for adults – due Dec. 10 — Children at Emmaus House select gifts to give their parents and grandparents in the Secret Santa Shop. New or very gently used items are needed, suggestions: scarves, slippers, socks, soap, shampoo, cologne, shaving cream & razors, gloves, billfolds, home items, small appliances, costume jewelry, watches. No need to wrap items. Bring to the Secret Santa bin near the Giving Tree by Dec. 10.

-> The Giving Tree gifts for kids – due Dec. 17 – The Giving Tree with ornaments is in the church foyer. Select a tag to provide a gift for an Emmaus House boy or girl ages 10 to 18 years. A list of gift suggestions and instructions is on the table next to the tree. Please (1) Wrap the gift & write a brief description on the label on the ornament; (2) Attach the ornament securely to your gift; (3) Bring to the Giving Tree by Dec. 17.

-> Be a Christmas “elf” – Saturday morning, Dec. 23 (NOTE DATE!) – Every year, St. Catherine’s people go to Emmaus House in Atlanta to be “elves,” to help with activities and distribute presents to 900+ smiling faces at their Christmas Festival. “Be Still and Know” Quiet Eucharist begins Wed., Dec. 13 — Wednesdays, Dec. 13 & 20, 7:15-8:00 pm. All are welcome for “Be Still and Know”, a quiet mid-week Eucharist with prayers for healing. We will gather at the side chapel for stillness and meditation, simple singing and prayer. For information contact Mother Sarah, sarah AT


Pledge ingathering underway — Your pledge for 2018 is needed now as we begin our budgeting process. Cards are available at church or you may print one at . Wednesday Night Live (WNL) schedule — WNL dinner and programs will not meet on Nov. 22. WNL resumes Nov. 29 through December 13. Please note that Nursery is no longer being offered as part of WNL.
