-> Silent auction open this Saturday afternoon, no ticket needed – Everyone may preview and bid on the silent auction items prior to the event, with or without a ticket, 1-4 pm in the downstairs atrium (enter through Parish Hall).

 

Newcomer & Visitor Coffee this Sunday, Feb. 11 — 10-11 am in the Parish Hall. We would love to welcome you! Newcomers, visitors and new or returning members are invited for a one hour program with coffee, sweet treats, and conversation about our programs & ministries with clergy, staff and lay leaders. Absalom Jones celebration this Sunday, Feb. 11 — You are invited to a Celebration of the Life and Ministry of Absalom Jones at 4:00 pm at Absalom Jones Center for Racial Healing and Reconciliation, 807 Atlanta Student Movement Blvd, Atlanta, www.centerforracialhealing.org. A reception will follow. This annual service celebrates the legacy of the first priest of African descent in the Episcopal Church.  Limited parking at the Center, additional parking at Clark Atlanta University parking deck, 156 Mildred Street for nominal cost.

 

Family Promise hosting week begins this Sunday, Feb. 11 — St. Catherine’s will host guests of Family Promise of Cobb County from February 11 to 18. Through this program we provide a safe and comfortable haven in our Youth House for homeless families while they search for jobs and permanent housing. Pick up your new Photo Directory — If you have not yet received your copy of our new pictorial church directory, you may pick it up in the foyer this Sunday before or after the 8:45 and 11:15 services.

 

*** Weekly Ministry Focus: Young Families Ministry — Young Families is families with children under the age of 12. The group organizes family-friendly events and adult-only gatherings for children and parents to socialize and build relationships. The Young Families Ministry also hosts a cake reception following each baptism and leads service projects including Rice Bowls during Lent. NEWS & ACTIVITIES COMING SOON

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper Feb. 13 — 6:00-7:30 pm in the Parish Hall. Invite family & friends to celebrate Mardi Gras in St. Catherine’s style with tasty food and fellowship! No tickets or reservations needed, suggested donation is $5 for adults and $3 for children. We’ll have pancakes in many flavors plus king cake and fun Mardi Gras décor and music. This annual event will support community outreach activities by our Youth.

 

Burning of the Palms Tuesday, Feb. 13 – 5:45 pm in the back parking lot, all are welcome. A tradition within the church is that the ashes imposed at our services on Ash Wednesday are made by burning palm fronds saved from the previous year’s Palm Sunday.
-> Return your saved palms — If you saved your palms from last year, please bring them to the basket in the foyer by this Sunday, February 11.

 

Ash Wednesday services Feb. 14 — Ash Wednesday invites us to enter the holy season of Lent. This day is marked by penitence and fasting. Holy Eucharist + Imposition of Ashes will be held at 7:00 am, 12 noon, and 7:30 pm. The nursery is open for the evening service. If these services are not convenient this day, you may use the diocesan Church Locator tool episcopalatlanta.org/ChurchDirectory/  to find churches near your work or function and contact them for service times.

 

*** Sign up/donate for Atlanta Hunger Walk — Sunday, Feb. 25 at Georgia State University Stadium (formerly Turner Field). Please join St. Catherine’s team! It’s a fun day with food trucks, games, educational activities, live entertainment, and 25% of donations go to Episcopal Community Foundation. St. Cat’s Youth will depart after 8:45 am service for the diocesan youth breakfast & Eucharist (bring money for lunch). To walk/run or donate go to https://goo.gl/HcgaMw . *** Women’s Retreat registration now open — All women are invited for “Renewing You” retreat weekend at Montara Farm in the beautiful North Georgia mountains April 27-29. Cost still being determined, between $325 – $375 based on number of participants, includes room & meals Friday night through Sunday brunch. Outreach committee seeking leaders for several activities including MUST Summer Lunch packing, Rise Against Hunger meal packing, and neighborhood school support. MUST Laundry Team needs help — Laundry Team serves the 4th Tuesday and 5th Wednesday each month at MUST Ministries Elizabeth Inn shelter on Cobb Parkway. 2 volunteers work together 6:30-11 pm. St. Catherine’s Preschool registration is ongoing — We appreciate you referring friends and neighbors to our quality program for children ages 1 through 4 (Pre-K).
