For full information please read your Wheel newsletter, available on our website! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stewardship Ingathering -- your pledges due Sunday, Oct. 19. "Why Stewardship? Because I can!…Can you?" For Stewardship 2009 we are distributing our campaign materials via our website. This allows us to be good stewards of our environment, your time, and St. Catherine’s treasure. If you prefer a printed copy please call the church office, 770-971-2839. The box for your returned pledges is in the narthex. ACTIVITIES THIS WEEK Stewardship Dinner this Sunday, Oct. 12, 5:00-7:00 PM in the Parish Hall. Child care is available. The Stewardship Committee invites you to share St. Catherine's abundant opportunities to serve and give in support of the ministry and outreach work which God has called us to do. Please RSVP by signing up in the foyer or call the church office at 770-971-2839. Holt Road closed this Thursday evening, Oct. 9 for the annual Wheeler High School Homecoming Parade approximately 6:30-7:00 PM. Please plan accordingly if you need to come to the church during this time. Please pray for those on the New Orleans mission trip this week, Oct. 8-12. Men’s Book Study -- Next date: Monday, October 13. All men are invited to Men’s Book Group, meeting once a month at members' homes for a meal, fellowship and to discuss a book with spiritual implications. This month we meet at Al Maxwell's house at 6:30 PM. For questions please contact Tom Hunter, thunter41@bellsouth.net. WNL continues -- Join us each week at Wednesday Night Live for all ages. Dinner is served 5:45-6:30 PM, programs at 6:30-7:30. Please sign up for meals each week in your bulletin or contact the church office by 5 PM on Tuesday. Price - $6 adults; $3 kids under 12 or $1 for the PB & J bar, $20 maximum for a family. Habitat build -- Our home build continues each Saturday morning through Nov. 1. Sign up in the foyer after services each Sunday, to work one or more dates. You must be at least age 16 to build, all ages may help with food. Reflections writers wanted -- A special annual tradition at St. Cat’s is our booklet of reflections on the seasons of Advent and Christmas written by our own parishioners. Please consider writing a brief (1 or 2 paragraphs) meditation on a Scripture passage. Reflections will be due by Sunday, Nov. 9. Contributions are anonymous, only you and the editor will know which one is yours. Still hesitant? Operation Christmas Child -- This is an easy project that children and adults alike enjoy participating in by filling a shoe box with small gifts and toiletries for needy children around the world. Return your filled boxes to church by Nov. 16. For more information, contact Jennifer Gale at 770.579.0657. I Hors d'oeuvre Competition -- Saturday, Oct. 18, 7 PM. Come and compete with your signature award-winning delectable edible in the form of desserts and appetizers. Make sure to bring copies of your recipes and MONEY -- part of the fun is voting with cash for your favorite dish. Proceeds from the judging will go to a non-profit organization/charity. Guaranteed fun evening for all adults! Cost $12.50 per person or $25 per couple, wine/beer included. We will have Vince the DJ with "Shaggin" (Carolina Beach) music. Any help is appreciated for set up/ break down after the event. Tickets on sale at church on Sundays or contact Larry or Meg Boyd at (770) 977-9362. All Saints’ Sunday remembrances -- All Saints Sunday will be celebrated this year on November 2. On this date we would like to remember at the altar those people in your life who you have lost, whether last week or 25 years ago. Please also share with us the names of those who grace your life in the here and now. Please write the names on the Opportunity for Ministry flyer in your bulletin or contact the church office by Sunday, October 26. “Walk Down This Mountain” Fall Youth Retreat -- October 24-26. All youth are invited to the fall retreat in the mountains of north Georgia. Cost of the weekend is $75 per person and covers everything from dinner Friday night to lunch on Saturday. Permission forms are available on the bulletin boards in the Youth House or next to Amelia’s office. Gallery Display -- Illustrations by parishioner Jason Snape will be on display at the new Roomscapes Gallery and Heartworks Studio in downtown Woodstock (owned by Pat and Bob Pepper's daughter, Shawn McLeod). Prints, drawings, greeting cards, holiday cards, and wearables will be available along with the work of dozens of other artists. Opening reception is October 25, 6-9 pm. Our active senor adults group will take amotor trip to John and Sue Martin’s farm in the north Georgia foothills. Join us for a fun-filled day of seeing the autumn leaves, buying apples fresh from the orchard, riding in an old-timey car, paddling on the pond, or taking a hay ride. Pick Your Pumpkin -- Sunday, October 26, 4:00 pm. St. Cat's Young Families invites you to Burt’s Farm in Dahlonega to choose your pumpkin, go on a hayride, take photos of the kids, drink apple cider and just enjoy a gorgeous fall day in the North Georgia Mountains. Marriage Encounter Weekend -- Stress-proof your family... go on an Episcopal Marriage Encounter weekend, 44 hours where married couples can get away from jobs, kids, chores, and phones, and focus only on each other. If you’d like greater depth, growth, and enrichment in your relationship, you’ll like the difference an Episcopal Marriage Encounter weekend can make. Help Wanted: Roadies -- The Jubilate Choir needs a roadie or two. As we grow and serve the congregation at 8:45 and at special services, we need someone to help us set-up and clean-up before and after each time we sing (about once a month).
